I’ve updated the Old Testament psalm (prayer set to music) by David, to New Testament/Covenant language. I would encourage you to read the full scripture (see the link above) before speaking the prayer.

To you, Lord, we lift up our souls. We trust in you, and we thank you that you have not left us in shame or given the enemy the right to shame us. Instead, shame comes to those who intentionally twist your Word against others.

Thank you, Lord, for showing us your ways and teaching us your paths. Thank you for always leading us into and teaching us of your truth. You truly are the God of our salvation, and we set ourselves–personally and purposefully–to serve you all day, every day.

Thank you, Lord, for your tender mercies and your loving kindness, which are (like you) from the past, for the now, and into the forever. We are hugely grateful that you no longer remember the sins and transgressions of our pasts, and that you see us through your heart of grace, mercy, and all goodness.

You are good and upright, Lord, and therefore you teach your people the same way–guiding us in true justice. ALL your paths (that you present to us to lead us and guide us) are grace, mercy, and truth! You have set all of this before us through the name of Jesus, who is our Sacrifice Lamb. You have already pardoned our old sin nature, and you are always ready to reach out in mercy to us, to forgive sins that we may commit in error at any time.

We are in awe of you, Lord, and we revere and worship you as our God and Father. Thank you, that through your Word, you teach us how to live in prosperity and goodness. Thank you, also, that as descendants of Adam and Eve, we have inherited the earth. We understand that you will guide us wisely in all that you have prepared for us to do, because you are teaching us your covenant, and revealing to us more and more about its full meaning, every day.

We understand, Lord, that Jesus became our perfect Sacrifice Lamb, and paid all of our worldly debt, so that we are no longer alone and afflicted with multiple troubles. Holy Spirit now lives within us, to bring us out of distress, affliction, and trouble, and we thank you again, that you have forgiven all our sins, by the shed blood of Jesus.

Thank you that you regard us with your never-changing heart, that always reaches out to us with mercy, grace, and love—now and forever! We put our trust in you, Lord, knowing that your integrity and uprightness will ALWAYS preserve us–keeping us from rotting and decaying–even in the middle of times when the world around us seems set on violently “taking out” your people. Thank you for redemption, and thank you for teaching us and leading us ever forward—second by second, hour by hour, day by day, week by week, month by month, year after year…into forever.

Amen!
