I would encourage you to read Philippians 4 in its entirety (the link will open in a new page), before praying this prayer.

In times of trouble, instead of giving in to fear, confusion, or helplessness, I will rejoice in you, Lord–always.

Instead of displaying anger toward any who stand against me wrongfully or bully me, I will stop, listen to your heart, and speak with your gentleness and kindness. I will be reminded, and will remind anyone who torments me, as well, that you are always at with me.

Even in the worst of worldly times, I will not allow fear or anger to take over my life. Instead, I will talk to you about every concern that I have, in every regard. I’ll be ready at any moment to have true (two-way) conversations with you. I’ll ask you questions, and will trust you for honest and helpful answers and instruction.

It’s in this way, that your peace—the peace that passes all worldly understanding–will not only dwell in me, but will shine out from me. Because you are guarding and keeping me, I will be able to walk in this world in your love, joy, and strength, plus I’ll be able to share those qualities with those around me, in any situation.

At all times, I will choose to remember (and will help others to remember) to meditate on things that are TRUE, things that are NOBLE, things that are JUST, things that are PURE, things that are LOVELY, things that are a GOOD REPORT, things that are full of VIRTUE, and any other things that are PRAISEWORTHY because of YOU.

Amen!
