(The Lord Surrounds His People)
(The Sixth Psalm in A Song of Ascents)
* * * * * * * * * * * *
PSALM 125 (1-5): Those who trust in and rely on the LORD [with confident expectation] are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved but remains forever. As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the LORD surrounds His people–from this time forth and forever–for the scepter of wickedness shall not rest on the land of the righteous, so that the righteous will not reach out their hands to do wrong. Do good, O LORD (to those who are good and to those who are upright in their hearts) but as for those who turn aside to their crooked ways [in unresponsiveness to God], the LORD will lead them away with those who do evil. Peace be upon Israel.
PRAYER—Using Matthew 6:9-13 as a “Matching” Example, “Pray, then, [a]in this way …”
Our Father, who is in Heaven, [b]hallowed be Your name. [c]Your kingdom come, Your [d]will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our [e]daily bread, and forgive us our [f]debts, as we have forgiven our debtors [letting go of both the wrong and the resentment], and [g]do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from [h]evil. [i][For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.] AMEN

b) set apart, keep and treat as holy, revere.
c) a plea for God’s kingdom to be inaugurated on earth.
d) including what God wishes to be done by the
individual believer—His commands and precepts.
e) life’s essentials.

and have the opportunity to sin. God does not tempt
man (see James 1:13) but does allow man to be tested.
