A Psalm of David
(Rephrased as a New Covenant Declaration of Faith)
* * * * * * * * * * * *
1-3) Lord, you are my light and my salvation, so I shall not live in fear. You are the strength of my life, so there is no reason to be afraid. Even if the wicked come against me as enemies, to kill me, they shall stumble and fall. Even if enemy armies camp completely around me, my heart will not fear. Even if there is war everywhere I look, I will be confident in you.
4) The one thing I desire and will seek all the remaining days of my life, Lord, is that I may continue to dwell in your house–beholding your beauty and spending my time learning more about your ways.
5-6) In times of trouble, I know I can seek your help as my Father, King, and Comforter. So I will spend time worshiping you, and you will keep me safe from all enemies. I will sing joyful praises to you, knowing that I will receive your strength in return.
7-8) Thank you, Father God, that when I speak to you, you answer me with mercy. You have called me and taught me to seek your face, and I will continue to do so.
9) I know that you will never hide your face from me, and that you won’t turn away from me in anger. I am your servant, and you are my source of help. I know you will never leave me or forsake me, Lord. You are my salvation.
10) Even if my own father and mother forsake me, I know and understand that you—the God of my salvation—will always love me and take care of me.
11-12) Please continue to teach me daily, about your ways, Lord, and lead me in safety, even in the path of enemies. I trust that you will not deliver me to my adversaries, even if false witnesses or violent killers rise up against me.
13) Even when I have felt like giving up, Lord, you have helped me to keep believing in your goodness.
14) Therefore, I will walk forward in your love, without fear–serving you, Lord. You always encourage me and strengthen my faith in your ways. Even when I can’t see all the answers in front of me, I will wait on you, because I know that you do. Thank you!
